New BMW i7 EV rendered: price, specs and release date

New BMW i7 EV design

BMW’s front end styling has been a point of contention over the past couple of years, and the new i7 seems to be continuing this trend. Below are some exclusive carwow renders based on spy shots of the prototype i7, which show what the finished car may look like.

Expect the front end to be dominated by large ‘kidney’ grilles despite the lack of an engine, and blue highlights to signify its EV status. The rest of the design should closely resemble the internal combustion-powered 7 Series.

This extends to the twin-level headlights and the traditional three-box saloon profile.

Expect an M-Performance version of the electric saloon too, possibly dubbed the i7 M. This’ll get some subtly aggressive visual tweaks, as imagined by the render above.

New BMW i7 motors, batteries and range

Many of the BMW i7’s tech specs are being kept a closely guarded secret for now, though other electric BMWs give you an idea of what to look forward to.

For instance, the BMW iX SUV comes with a huge 100kWh battery pack, there’s a very strong chance a similarly-sized battery will be available on the larger i7.
